    Q How much it costs to stay at Orange Valley Nursing Home?
    A There is a monthly fee that varies based on the level of nursing care. Added costs would depend on the person’s need for equipment or consumables. Our Care Consultants will provide personal Financial counselling prior to admission.
     
    Q Is laundry service included in the monthly fee?
    A Laundry services for the resident is included in the monthly fee.
     
    Q Does the monthly fee include resident’s mobility aid such as walking frame or wheelchair?
    A As personal hygiene takes priority at Orange Valley, residents are advised to have mobility aid dedicated for their own use.
     
    Q Who can we include as guarantors for the admission agreement?
    A Any family member, close relative or friend who is working can qualify as the guarantor.
     
    Q What are the criteria to qualify for Government Portable Subsidies?
    A
    1. Person has physical or mental disabilities as a result of medical conditions e.g. stroke, dementia and other chronic illnesses.
    2. Person is semi-ambulant, wheelchair or bed bound and requires daily nursing care and assistance in his daily living activities as assessed by healthcare professionals.
    3. Person has exhausted all other possible care arrangements and is not able to be cared at home by community providers.
    4. He must pass the means test for healthcare subsidies conducted by Integrated Care Services. For information, please refer to http://www.ics.com.sg
     
    Q Is Orange Valley Nursing Home an approved provider with Government Portable Subsidies?
    A Our Clementi and Simei branch are approved for Government Portable Subsidies.
     
    Q Can the resident bring his personal consumables which include milk powder, diapers and gloves?
    A As our resident, in-house consumables are to be provided by Orange Valley Nursing Home at affordable rates.
     
    Q How is the arrangement for the bill and payment?
    A A monthly bill will be sent to the designated family member in the Admission Agreement Form. Payment can be made in person by cash or cheque, cheque via post, or GIRO.

    Q What is the difference between short-term stay and long-term stay?
    A A short-term stay is less than one month while a long-term stay is one month or more.

    Staff
    Q Do you have an in-house medical doctor?
    A Our in-house full-time medical doctor is available to closely monitor and treat patients.
     
    Q What is your ratio of care staffs to residents?
    A We ensure an optimum ratio of care staff to residents at all times. It averages at one staff to six patients, depending on the nursing care level required by residents.
     
    Q Are your staffs trained in nursing care?
    A We are committed to our residents with our Always Resident-First policy. Besides meeting the minimum professional qualification set by the Ministry of Health, our nursing staff must meet our strict in-house selection criteria.
     
    Q Can the nursing staff communicate to residents with limited language skills?
    A With the global use of English as a business language, all our staffs are proficient in at least English. To communicate with residents, our staffs of various ethnic background can overcome any likely communication problem, if any.

    Q Do you have a rehabilitation centre?
    A Our rehabilitation facility at each branch is complete with progressive equipment to manage the therapy requirements of our residents. Our team of Rehabilitation Manager and therapists are dedicated to achieve the best function possible for each resident.

    Q What are the kinds and frequency of meals served?
    A Everyday, fresh meals full of therapeutic values are served to meet the dietary needs of our residents. Besides three palatable meals of breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 between-meals snacks, we cater to request for special meals due to religious reasons.

    Q Does Orange Valley provide Day Care and transportation services to residents?
    A Residents may opt for day care services at any of our branches conveniently located near to their home. Transportation can be arranged upon request.

    RAF
    Q How do you assess the health category of the new resident?
    A Resident Assessment Form (RAF) is a Ministry of Health tool used to capture the patient’s functional abilities. This is to assess the nursing care level of the patient which then determines the nursing home costs for the resident. Usually completed by the nurse or doctor, residents are assessed which of the four categories he belongs to.
     
    Q What are the health condition criteria for admission to be accepted?
    A A person will require nursing home care when he becomes very frail, sick or bedridden with no caregiver at home. He is dependent on daily nursing care and/or assistance in his daily living and may be wheelchair bound or bed bound.
     
    Q My loved one has complete medical reports issued by the hospital upon discharge. Does he still need medical assessment by Orange Valley for admission?
    A Admission assessment is necessary and important for our in-house doctor to have a direct understanding of our resident’s health and medical condition.

    Medical
    Q Can the resident seek alternative treatment such as Traditional Chinese Medicine outside the home?
    A As any external treatment is administered independently, the resident and family must understand and accept that it can interfere with our home’s medical, rehabilitation and nutrition plans.
     
    Q Instead of being treated by your in-house doctor, can the resident be treated by his visiting external doctor?
    A For exceptional cases which requires a visiting external doctor, it must be approved by our in-house medical doctor.

    Preparation
    Q If the person prefers to reside in Orange Valley Johor Bahru, what other documents do we need to prepare?
    A Besides the usual documents that include the Health Report, Medical Memo or X-Ray Report issued by the discharge hospital, you need to prepare the resident’s passport document.
     
    Q To prepare for admission, what are the personal items we need to prepare?
    A We will provide you with a Things To Bring List as a convenient guide for your admission preparation.
     
    Q What is the notification period for admission?
    A If the bed requested by the new resident is not on the waiting list, a minimum of one-day’s notice is required.

    Family
    Q What are the visiting hours for family and friends?
    A 8.30am to 8.30pm daily.
     
    Q How do we arrange to bring the resident out from Orange Valley?
    A The resident, family, guardian or guarantor can complete a Temporary Absence Release Form and submit to the reception upon going out of the home.
